Laminar flow refers to a smooth and uniform flow of a fluid/air in which the fluid/air particles move in parallel layers without mixing or disrupting each other. This type of flow is characterized by a low Reynolds number and occurs in pipes, channels, or other confined spaces where the fluid/air velocity is low and the viscosity is high. In laminar flow, the fluid/air moves in straight, predictable paths and there is no turbulence or mixing.
The horizontal laminar flow cabinet, laminar flow hood or clean benches as they as also known for, were specially developed in a parallel form to make it easier to clean room technology or for the pharmaceutical industry, chances of contaminants entering the cabinets is 0% because of it being a sterile environment.
This cabinet is a preferred selection for plant tissue culture, media plate preparation, electronic inspection, medical device assembly, pharmaceutical drug testing, to name a few. The horizontal laminar flow does not protect the user against a conjunction with bio-hazardous material, toxins or radionuclides, therefore products such as mentioned above should be avoided when using the horizontal laminar flow.
Mycology Laminar Flow Units:
Lab-Craft manufactures various sizes of Laminar flow cabinets for the Mycology industry
During the growing process, mushroom cultures and cultivars need to be protected from cross-contamination. The Laminar Flow cabinet ensures a sterile environment on the work surface for mushroom cultures.
The laminar flow cabinet helps prevent contamination during mycology applications by passing HEPA filtered air through the cabinet interior. HEPA or ULPA filters remove up to 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns or larger or 99.999% of particles 0.12 microns or larger, providing an ISO 5 environment.
Laminar Flow Operating Theaters:
Operation theatre type Laminar Flow Units are used to supply laminar flow over the operating table and its perimeter. Laminar Flow Unites prevent operating zone from microbes, bacteria and other living organisms.
Operation theatre type Laminar Flow Units are constructed from epoxy coated steel. H13 / H14 HEPA filters with metal frames installed in the unit. A double layered silk screen (CG-Screen) is used under the laminar flow to achieve laminar flow. The Unit is specially designed to enables pendant lamp connection in the middle of the unit.
